BPM Inbox substitution rules

Hi BPM Experts,

I was playing around with the BPM Inbox of SAP NetWeaver 7.31 BPM. Now I would like to know if the BPM Inbox has its own Substitution Rules or if they are some how synchronized with the substition rules from UWL?

For me at first glanc it looks like they are not connected in any way. Is this correct?
